Food Post – Tsaôcaa

Written by Sarah-Maree

It’s Polar Bear Swim Day, and I’m celebrating with a swimmingly delicious food post. It’s about the tantalizing flavors of shaved ice. If you’ve been following me lately, you may have seen this blog coming. I mentioned it briefly in my Book Tag post. Well, here it is, my description of the most amazing little place I found in Indianapolis, Tsaôcaa. They’re a tea shop that specializes in making an amazing variety of teas. In particular though, I wanted to talk about another item on their menu that is worth visiting for: their Korean shaved ice.

OMG, it was so amazing! I’m sharing some photos below as well, but I just wanted to let you know that we added popping bobas to ours, making it so much more amazing! When this pandemic ends, I’m heading to Indy for more of this amazing dessert. That look I have in the above photo is one of shock and some trepidation as I was not prepared for such a large dessert. So, yeah, I would seriously suggest bringing a friend as this dish is larger than you might think.

Korean shaved ice is a dessert with sweet toppings that may include chopped fruit, condensed milk, fruit syrup, and red beans. If red beans are not used or are replaced with other ingredients, which is the case with Tsaôcaa, then that is called bingsu (or bingsoo). The photo below has my choice in shaved ice toppings. I went with half blueberry with popping blueberry bobas and the other half with fresh strawberries and popping strawberry bobas.

The photo below is of my husband, Nicholas Klein. He opted for the toppings of blueberry with popping blueberry bobas on half and then mango with popping mango bobas on the other half.

As you can see in the photo below, it really looks like whatever shaved ice is. I'm not gonna lie, it was so good! If there wasn't a pandemic going on, I'd be in Indy getting me some more of this tasty treat! Oh, how I lament the freedoms of last year. Still, it does give me something to look forward to.
