Ninja Mayhem - Part 1
I hope you’re having a great Friday! If you’re new to my blog, welcome! Every week I switch between Positivity Camp (a camp where negative words are forbidden) and a tale of woe, epic success, or foolishness from a Dungeons & Dragons or D20 campaign (quick explanation: they’re tabletop games with roleplaying).
As you may know, I’ve been working on my book MAD Upload for over two years now. It’s back with the editor at the moment, but I’ve begun working on book 2. I’ve been doing my best not to lose focus, and I have four chapters done. Hopefully they don’t need too much work by the time I get to editing the full MS (manuscript). I can dream, right?
Without further delay, here is this week’s tale. As you may have noticed, it says, “Part I.” Yes, there are more stories of ninja to come. This story takes place after a previous ninja attack in the capital city and after Diplomacy. Check it out below!

Dungeons & Dragons
The group stopped by their inn to collect their horses. Despite being in the capital city, they all mounted and rode their horses down the streets. After having shown a severed head to a man in the messenger’s guild, they had little choice but to leave. Besides, there was no telling how far Zeno’s father, Lord Garnish, would go to capture his daughter. Being stuck in a prison cell wasn’t going to help anyone, least of all Zeno.
As usual, Tillek took the lead. There were few who would challenge a Flame Knight on a Warhorse. Knightmare sensed his rider’s agitated mood, but thankfully no one was close enough for him to nip at.
Laughter reached Tillek and as he turned to see what Zeno was laughing about, he caught sight of a ninja falling off a roof (nat 1). Zeno continued to laugh as the man fell, bounced, and then scrabbled shakily to his feet. He disappeared down a dark alley.
“Should we follow?” Karliah asked as she caught sight of the fleeing foe.
“No, we can’t risk being caught,” Kassandra said before Tillek could turn Knightmare around. He was always eager for battling anyone who would attack his comrades. As much as he wanted to battle the ninja, he urged his warhorse onward. He smiled, however, as he remembered the ninja falling off a roof.

Natural 1 (nat 1): This is a d20 dice roll done that results in landing on a 1. No matter how skilled a player is, if a 1 is rolled, they fail...epically and often in a hilarious manner.
